Job Description:
Melly's is looking for a dynamic and compassionate individual to fill the role of Inclusion Project Coordinator. In this vital role, you'll be at the heart of our initiative, Melly's Bridge, which aims to empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to find and sustain meaningful employment. This role presents a unique chance to make a substantial impact, fostering career development and ensuring the seamless integration of individuals with disabilities into the workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Development of Melly's Bridge:
- Design mentorship plans, training plans, and detailed inclusion plans.
- Develop employer strategies and employment strategies to promote inclusivity.
- Create presentations to educate businesses about the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities.
- Prepare networking materials to establish connections with potential employers.
- Collaborate with upcoming graduates:
- Assist in creating career goals tailored to each individual's aspirations and skills.
- Conduct mock interviews to enhance interview skills and confidence.
- Liaise with a social worker to develop therapeutic strategies and trauma-informed practices, addressing the challenges individuals with disabilities face during employment-seeking processes.
- Develop best practices:
- Create effective strategies to support participants' employment journey.
- Craft dream job descriptions for upcoming graduates and initiate contact with potential employers aligned with their skills and career goals.
- Facilitate connections between current graduates of the interactive development program and potential employers.
- Assess gaps and concerns:
- Identify common or potential gaps and concerns in employee and employer partnerships.
- Create a clear development plan to address identified gaps and concerns.
- Conduct regular on-site visits to employees and employers, ensuring effective communication and resolving concerns.
- Provide training and support:
- Collaborate with participants to identify additional training needs and provide support.
- Offer constructive feedback to ensure successful transitions and meet all parties' expectations.
- Develop best practices for onboarding, interviewing, training, and follow-up processes.
- Conduct regular on-site visits to potential businesses and partners:
- Schedule and conduct on-site visits to potential businesses interested in participating in the Melly's Bridge program.
- Showcase the benefits and value of the program, emphasizing the positive impact of inclusive hiring practices.
- Provide detailed information about the program and address any questions or concerns from potential partners.
- Monitor participants in new employment roles, providing assistance with work-related issues and job performance
- Support pop-up events for Melly's:
- Take the lead in organizing and executing pop-up events to promote Melly's and engage with the community.
-Connect with customers and businesses during events, answering questions and sharing information about Melly's mission and initiatives.
-Network and build relationships with other businesses, establishing partnerships and collaboration opportunities.
-Communicate Melly's Bridge program details, benefits, and success stories to potential partners and interested individuals.
-Assist in the takedown and cleanup of the event space, ensuring proper handling and storage of equipment and materials.
8. Finalize program materials:
- Work on completing final program materials for Melly's Bridge.
- Ensure all materials are comprehensive and ready for hand-off to the team.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Educational Background: Possession of post-secondary education in disciplines such as Social Service Work, Psychology, Marketing, Developmental Service Work, Community Development, Recreation, or Educational Assistant Certification.
Professional Expertise: Adept at job-search strategies, navigating local and provincial labour markets, honing interviewing skills, and facilitating workplace accommodations.
Emotional and Cultural Intelligence: Demonstrates exceptional emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and an in-depth understanding of barriers to success, including learning difficulties.
Experience with Disabilities: Proven experience in working with individuals with disabilities.
Self-Directed Professional Skills: Outstanding in planning, organizing, and managing time effectively, with the ability to work independently and without close supervision. A self-motivated, results-driven individual who initiates and excels in innovative environments.
Relevant Experience: 1-2 years of experience in coaching, training, job development, sales, outreach, or recruitment.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication capabilities, including preparing and writing reports.
Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional ability to build relationships across a broad spectrum of individuals, including community professionals, clients, colleagues, staff, volunteers, and employers.
Organizational Skills: Efficient organization and time management skills.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel is required for this position
- Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.
- Background Check: A Police Vulnerable Sector is a requisite for this role.
