Description: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Café and Market Coordinator to join our vibrant team for the summer. This position is perfect for a hotel and restaurant management student eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, real-world setting. As the Café and Market Coordinator, you will be integral in shaping our café's atmosphere, coordinating events, and enhancing the overall customer experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Deliver exceptional service to all customers, ensuring a welcoming and satisfying experience.
  • Event Management: Plan and execute 3-4 summer market events to enhance community engagement and promote café visibility.
  • Branding and Campaign Creation: Develop and implement branding strategies. Craft compelling social media campaigns to attract and retain customers.
  • Video Production: Capture high-quality video content for marketing and promotional activities.
  • Baking and Drink Preparation: Oversee and participate in the baking and drink development and preparation, ensuring product quality and consistency.
  • Merchandising and Inventory: Manage product displays and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands efficiently.
  • Administrative Support: Handle various administrative duties including inventory control, creating processes, improving current reporting and documentation, sales and waste reporting. 
  • Other duties as required

 Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Hotel and/or Restaurant Management program.
  • Experience working in a café or restaurant environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Marketing experience, especially in creating social media content, highly desirable.
  • Passionate about the hospitality industry and committed to exceptional customer service.

Assets:

  • Previous leadership experience.
  • Background in teaching, training, or coaching.
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Commitment:

  • Must be available to work 35-40 hours per week, Tuesday through Saturday.

 

Please note : This role is in partnership with Canada Summer Jobs and applicants must meet the following:

  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and legally entitled to work in Canada.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle as travel is required for this position
  • Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.
  • Background Check: A Police Vulnerable Sector is a requisite for this role.

Pay: From $17.00/hour
